There are two main color modes for widgets on Indify: Dark/Light Color mode, or Custom Background Color mode. This article applies to the Dark/Light Color mode, which is enabled as long as Set background color is toggled off (default).
To read more about color-related settings, check out Color Settings
On the configure page for your widget, near the bottom in the Style settings, you will find a setting called Dark/light appearance.
Choosing which mode your widget should use
You can choose between four options:
- Light and Dark Mode - Use system setting
- Light and Dark Mode - Light
- Light and Dark Mode - Dark
- Light and Dark Mode - Do nothing
Use system setting
If you want your system to decide whether your widget is displayed in dark mode or light mode, use the default Use system setting option. This will automatically update your widget to display in the appropriate mode when your system setting changes.
Light
Select this to always display your widget in light mode.
Dark
Select this to always display your widget in dark mode.
Do nothing
Select this to display the default settings. This will generally be the light mode color settings you have configured, but can be overridden locally by using the Dark Mode toggle on the widget’s hover menu. See: Light and Dark Mode - Setting dark or light mode locally
Setting dark or light mode locally
When either Use system setting or Do nothing is selected, your widget’s hover menu will show a Dark Mode toggle that can be used to toggle between dark and light mode settings, overriding your current setting.
Mode-dependent color settings
Some widgets will allow you to customize the colors of certain elements for use in dark mode and light mode.
When either Use system setting or Do nothing is selected, you will be able to customize colors for both light and dark mode settings.
When either Light or Dark is selected, you will be able to customize colors for only that setting.
