Understanding Timezone Settings
The Countdown Widget uses timezone settings to determine when your countdown should end. By default, the countdown uses the creator's timezone when you set it up.
Common Timezone Issues
→ Countdown Shows Wrong Time for Your Location
Why this happens: The countdown was created in a different timezone than where you're viewing it.
Solution: Ask the widget creator to enable the "Ignore Timezone" toggle in the widget configuration. This makes the countdown timezone-agnostic, so it finishes at the date and time set regardless of the viewer's location.
→ Countdown Ends at Different Times for Different Viewers
Why this happens: The "Ignore Timezone" option is enabled, making the countdown relative to each viewer's local timezone.
Solution: If you want everyone to see the countdown end at the same moment globally, turn off the "Ignore Timezone" toggle and set a specific timezone when configuring the widget.
How to Fix Timezone Settings
- Go to Indify.co and sign in
- Find your Countdown Widget in your dashboard
- Click to edit the widget configuration
- In the Date and time section, verify your timezone is set correctly
- Toggle "Ignore Timezone" on or off depending on your needs:
- Toggle ON: Makes the countdown finish at your set time in every viewer's local timezone (e.g., midnight wherever they are)
- Toggle OFF: Makes the countdown finish at the same moment globally, based on the timezone you select
- Save your changes and refresh the embedded widget
Best Practices
- For global events: Keep "Ignore Timezone" off and make sure the time is accurate from the perspective of your timezone (e.g., product launches, webinars)
- For local deadlines: Turn "Ignore Timezone" on so each viewer sees the countdown in their own timezone (e.g., assignment due dates)
- Double-check your settings: After configuring, test the widget by viewing it yourself to ensure it displays the correct time
Pro Tip: If you need precision down to a specific minute, you can type the exact time directly into the time picker instead of using the default 15-minute intervals.
Still Having Issues?
If you’re still having issues after trying these steps, submit a bug report on the widget’s configure page with details about your platform, browser, and the specific widget you're trying to embed.
