The Countdown Widget is a live, embeddable countdown timer that tracks time remaining to (or since) a specific date and time. Use it to create launch countdowns, event countdowns, deadline timers, goal countdowns, or a simple days until counter directly on any page that supports embeds. It updates automatically, supports multiple styles, and can be customized to match your workspace. Whether you are planning a product launch, tracking assignment due dates, or hyping up an upcoming event, the Countdown Widget keeps the exact time remaining front and center, right where work happens.
How to Set Up the Countdown Widget
Step 1: Create the Widget
- Go to Indify.co and sign in.
- Select Create New Widget.
- Choose Countdown from the widget library.
- Enter your target date and time and set the time zone.
Tip: Toggle the Ignore Timezone option to make the selected countdown time be relative to the viewer’s local timezone.
⚙️ Configure What Matters
Select Aesthetic
Choose a minimal Text-Only Countdown or a stylish Flip Countdown.
Event title
Add a descriptive title for your countdown event. This text will appear above or alongside your countdown timer.
Date and time
Choose the date and time for your countdown to end. The date picker provides 15-minute intervals, but if you need accuracy down to the specific minute, you can simply type it in.
24h toggle: Toggle on to use 24-hour format instead of the default 12-hour format.
Ignore timezone: Make your countdown timezone-agnostic, so the countdown finishes at the date and time you set, regardless of your location.
Date segments
Choose which date segments to display in your countdown. All segments are on by default.
Step 2: Customize the design
- Pick a style: text-only or flip.
- Choose colors, font, and transparency.
- Toggle units (days, hours, minutes, seconds)
- Set end behavior: show message, switch to count up, or freeze.
🎨 Personalize Your Aesthetic
Show Confetti on Completion
Choose how long to display a confetti animation when your countdown finishes. The default is 5 minutes.
Stop at zero
When your countdown finishes, it will begin counting back up to show how long ago it finished. Toggle this on to stop completely when finished.
Hide “To Go” / “Ago” panel
Toggle on to hide the last segment that displays “to go” or “ago,” depending on if your countdown is still going.
Digit font family
Flip Countdown only: Choose the font family for your countdown’s digit panels that best suits your style.
Text font family
Choose the font family for your countdown’s title and segment names.
Text align
Choose whether text is left-, center-, or right-aligned.
Larger title
Toggle on to increase the size of your countdown's title text, making it more prominent and eye-catching.
Accent color
Choose a color for the "to go" or "ago" panel that appears at the end of your countdown.
Text shadows
Display shadows behind text to increase contrast between the text and the background.
Color Settings
Update text colors & background colors to keep your aesthetics consistent in different environments.
Light and Dark Mode
Sync your widget’s appearance seamlessly with your platform’s environment, by selecting light mode, dark mode, use system setting, or do nothing.
Step 3: Paste Your Embed
- Copy the widget’s embed link from Indify.
- Open your Notion workspace.
- Type “/embed” and paste the link into your desired page.
- Resize and position the widget as needed.

Troubleshooting the Countdown Widget
FAQs
Q: Can I create a simple days-until countdown?
Yes. Disable all toggles except for the “Day” one to show only days in your countdown.
Q: Can the countdown become a count-up timer after it ends?
Yes, by default once the Countdown reaches its set time, it’ll switch from counting down to counting up, and the text next to the counter will switch from “to go” to “ago”. If you’d like to prevent this switch, turn on the toggle that says “Stop at zero”.
Q: Does the widget work across different time zones?
By default the time is set to the creator’s timezone, but if you’d like to set a timezone-agnostic time (i.e. the viewer’s time, regardless of where they are viewing the widget), make sure to turn on the “Ignore timezone” toggle.
Q: Can I embed multiple countdowns on the same page?
Yes. You can create multiple widgets in Indify and embed each link as separate widgets in your workspace.
Q: Is the Countdown Widget available on the free plan?
Yes, but certain features like having a transparent background require upgrading to the Creator Plan.
